Changes in 6 Months:

Its been really long since i haven't updated my blog.
Its been 5 days in India and I have noticed a lot of changes.
Family: My parents missed me lots and now I am being pampered(which was present even otherwise) My Mom had started tutoring in July, to keep herself occupied and slowly the number of kids increased from 1 to 5. So its like a mini nursery at my house from 5pm to 8pm. I m enjoying my time around these kids and teaching them. But I must admit, it needs a lot of patience to teach KIDS. Nonetheless it is a very enriching experience..........
Relatives: My relatives missed my other cousin who was working in Maldives and me. Actually we being the youngest are the jaan(life) of all get-togethers. So to make up for the last 6 mths we have planned for a big bash on New Year's Eve. Hope we have fun like the one planned 2 yrs back. This new year being a working day, I am kinda skeptical. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the Best.
Met my cousin's kids after 6 mths. One of my cousin sister's daughter who talked to me and called me PINNI (i love hearing that from her mouth) only when i urged/begged her, surprised me yesterday. She has become so talkative that you need to be always on your toes for answering her. A small conversation with her yest:
Vrinda: Pinni....ee cheppullu ekkada konnavu? (Pinni(Choti maa), Where did u buy these shoes)Me: Andheri lo (In Andheri)
Vrinda: Enduku? (Why) Me: Manchiga vunnayi ani (Because they are good)
Vrinda: Eppudu? When) Me: Yodu nelalu kinda (7 mths back)
Vrinda: Naaku konnivvu kada (Buy me also na) Me: neeku peddaga aytayi kada beta (They will be big for you beta)
Vrinda: Chinnayi konnivu.....ivvi nenu eskolenu pinni (Buy me small one's, i can't wear these big one's) (hahaha.....she is certainly smarter than I thought she was) Such intense gruelling session continued for other topics as well........She had started using Why, How, When, Where etc etc........Answering such questions can be tricky sometimes. You need to be really smart to answer kids queries.
Friends: My friends missed me as well.......They were happy bcoz they could not meet all this while and now we could have a grand get-together of all friends on my context. Still this will have to wait until the big CET Exams get over.......

MAA- Taare Zameen Par

TZP: One of my most recent favourite movies- reason's being- the STORY, the ACTOR & the DIRECTOR all did their part very well.
This is the best song in the recent times. Another favourite song of mine is Tujhse Naaraz nahi Zindagi from the movie MASOOM. Both of these song's are my all time favorite's and can listen to them for hours.
I searched a lot for the telugu version of this song- but i couldnt find it online. If somebody get's the link please leave the link as a comment to this post.
Just wanted to feel the song in my mother tongue......
It touches my heart everytime I listen to it. The word's of the song are so true & apt. This song is dedicated to all the mother's in the world.

I have translated it in English for non Indian's.

I never, tell u , but I am afraid of the dark; mother
Generally, I never show to you, but I care for you; mother
You know everything, u know na; Mother
You know everything, My Mother

Don't leave me in the crowd, that I can't even come home
Dont send me so far away, that you don't even remember me
Am i So bad Mother?? So Bad, my mother

Whenever Father used to swing me fast by the swing, My eyes used to search for you,
thinking that you would come and hold me; mother
I never tell u this, but i am frightened; mother, I dont let it come on the face,
but i get scared in my heart; mother
You know everything, u know na; mother
You know everything, my mother

I never, tell u , but I am afraid of the dark; mother
Generally, I never show to you, but I care for you; mother
You know everything, u know na; Mother
You know everything, My Mother

(P.S- I don't know if i have done a good job at translation)

FIRST's in USA

This is my 2nd trip to USA. The first one being 2 yrs back for the Convocation Ceremony of my elder bro Vineet. I had seen, done & experienced many new things on my first trip to USA. The lifestyle, roadways, travel, subways, food, the greenery, the cleanliness, MALL Culture- all of this had surpised & excited me the first time. This year being my 2nd trip, I thought I wouldn't have much to explore. But I was wrong, I have experienced "FIRST in my LIFETIME" moments this time too, all thanks to my lovely brothers n sister in law.
1. Cirque du Soleil:an entertainment company. Each show is a synthesis of circus styles from around the world, with its own central theme and storyline. They draw the audience into the performance through continuous live music, with performers rather than stagehands changing the props, and by having no curtains.
2. Falguni Pathak Dandiya Night: An amazing night of Garba & dandiya played by me after almost 10 yrs of not playing. I wouldnt say I am good at it, but i definately enjoyed my time.
3. US OPEN 2008 Finale: My admiration and constant praise for Roger Federer led my brother to buy the expensive tickets for the Finale of the US OPEN 2008. I enjoyed the game though it was not as exciting as the Wimbledon cup. The reason I enjoyed the game more was because my brother Vineet who was in favour of NADAL(initially)and later Andy Murray couldnt look me in the eye after his loss. I still enjoy a TOM & JERRY Camaraderie with Vineet.
4. Played LAWN TENNIS - My Eldest bro Satishannaya taught me Lawn Tennis. Though my bhabhi & me were playing it like Badminton, it was a new experience & I liked the game.
5.Broadway Experience- THE LION KING : The Best show in Broadway, The LION KING- & now I know the reason why...It's simply amazing, the costumes, the stage set up, the props, the music.......everything was magical.
6. FALL SEASON: Last time I came to USA for a month in MAY, so this is the first time I witnessed the FALL season. And I am already in Love with it........FALL IS THE BEST SEASON..........the climate is pleasant & the trees have such beautiful colors. It feels like Heaven :).
7. First time I celebrated my Birthday without my parents. Surprisingly I didnt miss them very much(Telephone's are such a boon). And also the credit goes to my brothers, who tried their best to make it one of my most memorable Bday's.
8. Halloween: Trick or Treat.......I saw cute kid's and children dressed up for the Halloween in the Mall. That night since we went out for dinner, I missed the kid's coming home for Treats [:(]. Also since we were in NY city, we saw many adult's dressed up for the halloween as well. The favourite costume of adults was Catwoman & Batman........As for children i loved the one's dressed as fairies & princess's
9. Being from Mumbai and not having travelled to the North of India during the Winter's, I have'nt yet seen snowfall. Yesterday my brother woke me up and showed me the first snowfall of the season. It was a mild snowfall, and since i had just got up from sleep and also have'nt seen one before, I felt as if they were small pieces of cotton being thrown from the terrace........I was confirming with my bro if that actually was snowfall for a couple of times :)........So now next on the list of to do thing's is to feel the snowfall as I have just got the visual experience of Snowfall.

POST STEP 3

Blogging is really addicting, today morning i got up at 7 am and started to blog. As one of my friends put it that life will feel kinda empty post step 3, i started to get that feeling & it sucks, So i have decided to utilize my free time to BLOG. :-) .

USMLE STEP 3 is done, finally.............I really dunno how the exams(2 days; 8 hours at a stretch- phew, happy that its over) went, will have to wait for the results to see if i did ok (<80),good(>80) or very good (>90). I personally feel my scores will be good, but i would be more than happy to settle for very good scores[:P]. I guess praying to God might do the trick for very good scores. Other's please pray for me as well [:)]. I know, I am being selfish, but itna toh chalta hain na..... [:P]

Well Interviews(prime reason why i am in USA) is also the thing I am looking forward to now. As of now i have 4 in my kitty.

Reading & Surfing the net for information on the programs and interview skills is my latest past time. Come Monday and I will be busy with observership at a private Cardiologist. I am looking forward to that as well. Its better to be pre-occupied with work and learn something new and exciting than idle away the time staring at MY ERAS Inbox for Interview calls.

Anyways its the weekend 2day, and I am excited to go for DANDIYA, first time in USA. Also its been more than 8 yrs since I played Dandiya. My Colony in Mumbai Central used to organize it in the 90's with gr8 pomp and enthusiasm.

Adios,
Keep Smiling Always,

STEP 3 - Countdown 4 days left

I always motivate & inspire myself before the exams. This is the first time i am using my blog to do so. I am having mixed feelings for the exam........I am excited (the last hurdle towards my dream), scared(its tough), anxious(wanna do my best- though the scores don't matter), feeling lonely(dunno y- though i have the support of my brothers), missing my dad's constant comment - Chaduko (Study in telugu) Xxxxx (my pet name- don't wanna reveal it), missing mom's pampering of getting everything i need to me before i even need it.
The countdown has begun & i am only 4 days away from my Step 3. My heart, mind & hands are still constantly on the look out for that elusive 1st Interview Call of the Match Season. Thats the reason I am online most of the times. But i am thankful to my friends for having the faith in me, counselling me SOS & motivating me to do my best for step 3.
I have started listening to a lot of songs lately......which I always do when i am stressed out & tensed. My mom used to love them & here my lovely bhabhi is giving me company. Even now as i am writing this blog, my fav songs are giving me company in the background.
I guess its time to get back to my studies.
Will write more after my step 3.

Take care,
Keep smiling always,
Vedashree

I have become my own version of an optimist. If I can't make it through one door, I'll go through another door - or I'll make a door. Something terrific will come no matter how dark the present.

Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.

LEISURE

One of my favourite poems. I think this is the first one which i recited at a POEM ELOCUTION Competition in my school in the 3rd Std( don't remember which Std actually)

Leisure -William Henry Davies

What is this life if, full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare.

No time to stand beneath the boughs

And stare as long as sheep or cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,

Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylight,

Streams full of stars like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty’s glance,

And watch her feet, how they can dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can

Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this is if, full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare.
